Born and raised in Kuwait, Omar Al Dakheel moved to the US after receiving a scholarship to the University of Miami, followed by an MFA in TV and Film Production at USC.
Omar directed ‘Jihad in Hollywood’, featuring Werner Herzog, which is on Al Jazeera. He also directed ‘al imam’, following one of the world's few female imams, which has been distributed by National Geographic, PBS and was a Vimeo Staff Pick. His short fiction film ‘Ablution’ has screened at over 60 film festivals and qualified for a BAFTA. Omar was selected for the 2021/2022 Netflix Nonfiction Directing & Producing Fellowship and is now an Associate Producer for the Netflix docu-series 'American Manhunt: The Boston Marathon Bombing'.
Omar recently directed and produced the documentary short ‘Everybody's Watching’, filmed in collaboration with Hulu and Field of Vision. Omar aims to tell diverse stories with universal values that can bridge the gap between east and west.
